[Movies] Transformers 2 Notes From Early Screening
Posted by Ashish on 05.22.2009

Los Angeles Times writer Geoff Boucher was recently shown 25 minutes of footage from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Boucher said that the footage showed advancements in the robots, saying "the robots this time around are more impressive in their movement, intricacy and emotives."

He also disagreed with director Michael Bay who said the film would be "darker" than the original. According to Boucher, kids will love the new film.

"He showed me a sequence with a cranky new Autobot with a lot of stylized personality (think of a windy old geezer with the metallic equivalent of a braided beard) and he mentioned that the smaller robots will be a key part of this film. Tom Kenny (the star voice of SpongeBob SquarePants) and ubiquitous voice veteran Frank Welker are onboard and I think little kids in particular are going to seize on this movie."

Check out the full LA Times article here.

The old cranky Transformer is Jetfire. Frank Welker is the voice of Soundwave and Tom Kenny will be the voices of the goofy Autobot twins.

Tom Kenny is in it?

Holy shit, they got an actor from Transformers Animated into the movie. Kenny plays one hell of a Starscream and is a very talented voice actor, even if he is best know as Spongebob.

It's nice to see that they are wanting to do a good VA cast, and pulling VAs from other Transformers series is always great.

Now if we can only get Scott McNiel and David Kaye in there.

actully, Welker's Megatron wouldn't work. sounded too much like a slightly asthmatic Cobra Commander.

Weaving, on the other hand, made Megatron sound like pure evil.
